Launched in 2015, the Regional Prosperity Initiative brought together local public, private and nonprofit leaders along with Market Street Services—a national economic, community and workforce development consulting firm—to analyze the competitiveness of Greater Columbus as a place to live, learn, work, visit, and do business.
For ten months this diverse group collaborated, ultimately, developing a comprehensive community and economic development strategy. The strategy is intended to guide Greater Columbus’ public and private efforts to increase prosperity, reduce poverty and improve the overall quality of life for a stronger, more vibrant region by 2025.
Today, the plan now called Columbus 2025, is focused on five (5) Action Areas to transform the region:
- Talented Educated People
- Targeted Economic Growth
- An Enterprising Culture
- Vibrant & Connected Places
- A Cohesive Image & Identity
These Action Areas represent the areas where regional leaders believe they can have the most significant impacts in building a stronger community. Each of the areas of focus includes key objectives, recommended strategies, and success metrics to ensure accountability and to track the overall progress of the plan.
