Columbus, GA, the economic development team at Choose Columbus is preparing for emerging aviation opportunities with a $2.2 million investment in Columbus Airport infrastructure. The Columbus City Council approved the funding through the FY27 discretionary transportation infrastructure budget, which will be utilized for the construction of an airside electric charging station and dedicated vertiport. These facilities will support electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft, known as eVTOLs, and help connect Columbus to a broader advanced air mobility network. Columbus Airport will operate and maintain both facilities once construction is complete in late 2027.
