For Immediate Release July 14, 2025
COLUMBUS, GA—Choose Columbus and the Development Authority of Columbus, GA announced today that Sigma Stretch Film of Georgia, a global leader in high-performance film manufacturing, plans to invest $39 million and create 100 jobs in a new location in Columbus. The company will break ground on the project in late July.
This investment consists of the 75,000 square-foot expansion of an existing building that was formerly Stalwart Plastics, and construction of a new 75,000-square-foot stand-alone warehouse. The added space will allow Sigma Plastics Group, operating as Sigma Stretch Film of Georgia, to produce one of its core product lines – stretch film for pallet wrap.
“This new location in Georgia fills a geographical need for our stretch-film division and demonstrates Sigma’s commitment to help grow our customers’ businesses by investing in assets that will help us lower our cost to service,” said Mark Teo, President and CEO of The Sigma Plastics Group.
Founded in 1978, Sigma Plastics Group has grown into a globally recognized manufacturer with operations in multiple countries and a long-standing reputation for excellence in the plastics industry. The acquisition in Columbus is their first stretch film facility in Georgia, marking a significant milestone in the company’s growth strategy. Sigma Plastics Group has one other existing location in Forest Park, Georgia, Tara Plastics, which manufactures quality film products in the food processing industry.
The project is expected to create 100 new full-time jobs across a range of roles, including skilled manufacturing, maintenance, quality assurance, logistics and administrative support. Hiring will begin early next year. Local officials have applauded the announcement, calling it a major economic boost for the area.
“We are very excited to include Sigma Stretch Film of Georgia to our corporate community,” said Selvin Hollingsworth, Chair of the Development Authority of Columbus, Georgia.
“Their investment in our region will strengthen our workforce and drive long-term growth.”
Sigma Stretch Film continues to lead the industry through its commitment to quality, sustainability and innovation in plastic film manufacturing.
