Columbus, GA – 14 March 2022 – The Greater Columbus Georgia Chamber of Commerce recently announced that Meghan Richardson has joined the team and will take on the role of Senior Director of Economic Development.

Meghan is a next-generation economic developer who is passionate about collaborating with others to see cities transform, creating stronger communities to live, work, play and learn. Meghan’s work has led to the creation of over 1,200 new jobs and $345 Million in capital investment within the automotive industry located in West Point, home of KIA Georgia.

Meghan has been a member of the Georgia Economic Developers Association (GEDA) since 2012 and has recently become more involved with the association, assisting with strategic planning as the Young Professional Committee Chair in 2016 and 2017 and most recently, Meghan served on the board of directors for GEDA (2018-2020). In 2017 she earned the designation of Economic Development Finance Professional (EDFP), a national recognition that denotes a mastery of skills in economic development, professional attainment, and a commitment to personal and professional growth.

She is a graduate of the Georgia Academy for Economic Development and participated in Georgia Forward’s Young Gamechanger Dublin-Laurens County program. Meghan is a recipient of the Southern Economic Development Council’s 2015 Chairman’s Award, as well as Georgia Economic Development Association’s Penn Worden Professional Development grant and 2017 Committee Chair of the Year award.

A native of Georgia, Richardson was born in Albany and raised in Leesburg. She attended the University of Georgia and holds a Mass Media Arts degree from Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication and a Terry College of Business Certificate in Music Business.
